For the same reason that you couldn't understand me a moment ago: I haven't learned how. And perhaps you will feel happy once more if I tell you that you can learn to understand this book--which, by the by, is not identical with me--while on the other hand, I could never learn to do your work. (Christine: Why couldn't you?) Because I am not built that way and don't want to do it.
