11. LADY H. ((sings.)). 'Tis the last rose of summer, Left blooming alone; All her lovely companions Are faded and gone. No flower of her kindred, No rosebud is nigh, To reflect back her blushes Or give sigh for sigh. I'll not leave thee, thou lone one, To pine on the stem, Since the lovely are faded, Go sleep thou with them. Thus kindly I'll scatter Thy leaves o'er the bed, Where thy mates of the garden Lie scentless and dead. ((Aside.)) His eyes betray he loves me, Spite my lowly seeming lot, My rank I must remember, Ah, would 'twere all forgot. His heart is true and loyal, Tie me her loves alone, O, would I were the lowly maid He longs to make his own. LIO. All my proud rank forgetting For the maid I love alone, I'd lift her from her low estate, And make her all my own.
