Lucy doesn't know it, but I did, and I knew it was useless talking. So we were married secretly, this year. (ALMA: And when do you propose to acknowledge your wife?) I don't know yet, (crosses, L.) but when the right time comes. (ALMA: The right time was the day you married her.) Ah, it's all very well to talk, but you have no idea how much it would hurt the governor. (crosses to ALMA) It would have cut him to the heart.
